Dear Friends,

Wow, what a blessing to finally have warm sunshine and the beginning of summer. It was a long winter and spring but this summer promises to be one you’d want to write home about (all indications are headed in that direction).

Here at Sweetwater Sanctuary we are in full swing with our classes, apprenticeship program, and ceremonies. Our gardens love this warm weather with rain at just the right time to quench their thirst. Coming up this weekend is the Earth Spirit Healing Intensive. We have had such a positive response we had to close registration but we will offer this again next year as it is so important to be working with the Earth in this way. We are extremely honored to have the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers joining us on Sunday. They will bless our Earth Healing work and ceremonially close our intensive with us as the land here at Sweetwater Sanctuary receives the benefit of their Holy presence.

We want to remind all of you that the Plant Communication; Re-claiming Our Birthrite workshop here at Sweetwater is coming up on June 17-19. Register now to hold your space. If you miss this one this highly acclaimed workshop will also be offered in Ottawa and Sedona.

Restructuring, Re-patterning and Re-informing
by Pam Montgomery

eclipse

The next few weeks provides a huge opportunity for us to reevaluate both our inner and outer expression in the world. There are three eclipses, two solar and one lunar as well as the Summer Solstice. The first solar eclipse is today, June 1st, the lunar eclipse is June 15th and the second solar eclipse is July 1st with Summer Solstice, the longest day, on June 21st. Eclipses support shifts in restructuring the foundation of our lives which includes both the literal make-up of how we live our lives and who we are in relationship with each and everyday and also how we are energetically patterned internally. So for example, are our cells holding the pattern of health, is our internal monologue a life-giving story (which creates a particular vibrational frequency) and are we in alignment with our soul’s path? All of these things are part of our energy template which then serves as a blueprint for our physical world. Eclipses help to dissolve old patterns that no longer serve your life walk. When you are in the middle of this dissolution it may feel like what shamans call “dismemberment”. Your old self dies in order to be remade or reborn. On the other side of dismemberment is renewal, regeneration and rebirth all of which helps to inform the light at the nucleus of your cells to align with our true essential nature or what some are calling the “quantum you”. The Eclipses are all about the dynamics of light as well as the surpassing of what has been or come before.

The Summer Solstice is the time of year of maximum light. We are flooded with light through our Pineal gland which provides more light for our cells. When we focus our attention and intention on the light re-patterning toward health, well being and alignment with our authentic self we become not only more “enlightened” but also more in accordance with our life’s walk. This particular solstice supports us coming together in groups to exponentially increase the flow of healing energy toward not only humans but the Earth as well. This solstice would be the ideal time to gather a group of your friends to pray for the Earth or to do some type of ritual for the benefit of “all our relations”.

We are in this lovely soup of life together with our human and non-human friends on this home we call Gaia. She is the only home we have and it is time for us to treat her with the same loving kindness we would that which we hold most dear. One of my favorite poets, Wendell Berry, says it so eloquently in this poem called “A Vision”:

If we will have the wisdom to survive,

to stand like slow-growing trees

on a ruined place, renewing, enriching it,

if we will make our seasons welcome here,

asking not too much of earth or heaven,

then a long time after we are dead

the lives our lives prepare will live

here, their houses strongly placed

upon the valley sides, fields and gardens

rich in the windows. The river will run

clear, as we will never know it,

and over it, birds on like a canopy.

On the levels of the hills will be

green meadows, Stock bells in the noon shade.

On the steeps where greed and ignorance cut down

the old forest, an old forest will stand,

its rich leaf-fall drifting on its roots.

The veins of forgotten springs will have opened.

Families will be singing in the fields.

In their voices they will hear a music

risen out of the ground. They will take

nothing from the ground they will not return,

whatever the grief at parting. Memory,

native to this valley, will spread over it

like a grove, and memory will grow

like a legend, legend into song, song

into sacrament. The abundance of this place,

the songs of its people and its birds,

will be health and wisdom and indwelling

light. This is no paradisal dream.

Its hardship is its possibility.

The time to restructure, re-pattern and re-inform is now. Let’s begin to live the vision and dream we know is possible on this sweet Gaia.
